NCEHR offers an advisory service of educational site visits that provide opportunities to discuss the process of ethics review. This service of is part of NCEHR's educational activities and is not meant to monitor compliance with any particular policy or to report back to the granting Councils or governmental authorities on the status of implementation at specific institutions. The intent is to assist universities, hospitals and other research institutions in reviewing the strengths and weaknesses of their current system of ethics review and to suggest ways of improving the review process.

Should your institution invite NCEHR to conduct such a visit, we would arrange a site visit by a small team of surveyors who would meet with representatives of the Research Ethics Board (REB) that reviews research on human subjects, administrators, members of the research community, and department chairpersons.

    • All findings would be communicated in confidence to the appropriate senior official responsible for research ethics, to be disseminated and implemented at the official’s discretion.
    • The visit entails no direct cost to the institution.
